Este año nos sumamos a dos proyectos, a la temática del centro que son duendes y hadas y al proyecto de los Irlandeses para no perder el intercambio de experiencias tan enriquecedor , y con ellos aprenderemos sobre las leyendas.Las leyendas y cuentecillos en los que los protagonistas son unos seres de gran belleza y que suelen esconder tesoros secretos, sobre todo en el conocimiento de las propiedades de las plantas. Estos personajes cambian dependiendo del lugar pero sus rasgos suelen ser similares.
 Cuando se habla de hadas nos viene la imagen de un personaje pequeño, no mayor que un gorrión, con alitas, tal y como se ve en la obra de Peter Pan.
 Sin embargo, las hadas o los duendes son seres del mundo invisible. Se basan en la creencia de que había una raza intermedia entre los hombres y los ángeles. Los irlandeses los conocen con el nombre de “Feadh- Ree” o de “Sidhe”, lo que se podría traducir como raza espiritual. Esta raza es más antigua que la de los hombres y posee poderes mágicos y conocimientos secretos. Según las leyendas las hadas habitan en Tir na N´Og, la isla de la eterna juventud, en donde viven alegremente, sin sufrir enfermedades ni estar sujetos a la muerte.  Tienen fama de ser muy bellos con largos cabellos dorados.

Tanto Tolkien como James Barrie, conocedores de las leyendas populares, tomaron elementos de la misma. La Isla de Peter Pan, Neverland, donde los niños perdidos no envejecen, no es otra que Tir na N´Og. Lo mismo ocurre con la isla de los Valar a donde se dirigen los elfos de la Tierra Media. Las descripciones de estos personajes en las novelas del escritor inglés, salvo por la altura, se asemeja a la de las hadas de la tradición celta. Seres tremendamente bellos, orgullosos y que no envejecen ni mueren.

En las leyendas irlandesas se cuenta que las hadas son amantes de la música. Suelen bailar en las noches de luna llena en los bosques. Se valen de la música y de su belleza para encantar a los humanos, que se enamoran perdidamente de ellas. Este es el caso también de muchos cuentos gallegos, en donde un joven sufre el embrujo de una moura o de una xana. Estos seres tienen la capacidad de cambiar de aspecto y de disfrazarse ya sea de animales o de hombres. Hay relatos que cuentan estos amores entre dos mundos, pero el final de los mismos no es siempre feliz. En algunos casos los jóvenes son llevados a las moradas mágicas y nunca se vuelve a saber de ellos.


Los duendes y las hadas, son excelentes protagonistas para la historia de un huerto, donde cuidan, respetan y valoran todo lo que la tierra madre nos presta.
Quien mejor que ellos para contarnos multitud de leyendas , como por ejemplo, "Corazón de cebolla" una bonita historia que nos invita a reflexionar.

This year we join two school projects, Elves and Fairies and e-twinning project with the Irsih centre so that not to lose such a enriching  exchange of experiences. We learn about legends and tales with them in which the main characters are some beautiful creatures who hide secret treasures mainly in the knowing of plants properties.  Those characters change depending on the place but their appearance is similar.

when we speak about fairies we think about a tiny creature, not bigger than a little bird with wings as we see in peter Pan.
However, fairies and elves are from invisible world. They are based on the belief that there was a being between mankind and angels. Irish people know them as Feadh-Ree or Sidhe, which could be translated as spiritual race. That race is older than mankind and have magic and secret knowing. According to legends fairies live in Tir na N'Og, never-ending youth island, where they live happily without suffering illnesses or death. They are well known as being very beautiful with long hair.

Both Tolkien and James Barrie, knowing the popular legends, took elements of the same one. The Island of Peter Pan, Neverland, where the lost children do not age, is not another one that Tir na N'Og. The same thing happens with the island of the Valar to where the   elves of the Average Earth go. The descriptions of these prominent figures in the novels of the English writer, except for the height, is similar to that of the Celtic tradition fairies. Tremendously beautiful, proud beings and that neither age do not even die.

In the Irish legends one tells him that the fairies are music lovers. They are in the habit of dancing in the nights of full moon in the forests. They make use of music and of his beauty to delight human beings, and they fall in love passionately with them. 

This is also the case  of many Galician stories, where a young person suffers the spell of a moura or of a xana. These beings have the aptitude to change aspect and to disguise itself already belong to animals or to men. There are legends that tell stories about these loves between two worlds, but the end  is not always happy. In some cases the young people are taken to the magic mansions and it never returns to know of them. 


The elves and the fairies, are excellent protagonists for the story of a garden, where they care, respect and value all that the Mother Earth provides us.

Who better than them to tell us a lot  of legends , as for example, "Heart of the onion" which is a beautiful story that invites us to think.
